fire breaks

Does anyone have any ideas on the best implement for cutting fire breaks? I will be useing a JD 5310 (5000lbs., 55 pto HP). My tractor is 90 inches wide, but the fire break doesn' need to be over 4 to 5'in width.The soil is mostly Georgia red clay with no rocks. It works easy enough except after extended periods of dry weather when it then turns into red concrete.
